Our Programs
LEARN TO PLAY
Learn to Play Program is an internationally recognized coach education initiative that equips instructors with modern methods for teaching beginners the fundamentals of ice hockey. Focused on creating a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment, the program emphasizes skating skills, player development, and age-appropriate coaching to build a strong foundation for lifelong participation in the sport.
ASFL, in partnership with Royal Enfield Social Mission, successfully conducted Learn to Play (LTP) ice hockey camps for children in Leh, introducing structured grassroots hockey development through safe, inclusive, and community-based training systems. The program focused on foundational skating, confidence-building, teamwork, and early hockey development aligned with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Learn to Play philosophy. Nearly 80 children participated in the camps, creating important pathways for young players to access structured winter sports training and mentorship in Ladakh.
The initiative focused not only on teaching hockey skills, but also on building confidence, discipline, participation, and long-term engagement with sport among children growing up in remote Himalayan conditions. Through these programs, ASFL aims to gradually strengthen grassroots winter sports ecosystems and create more accessible sporting opportunities for youth across Ladakh.
We intend to cover 30 villages across Ladakh in 2026-27 hockey season.

Hockey Is For Everyone – Sledge Hockey Inclusion Initiative
As part of its larger philosophy that “Hockey is for Everyone,” ASFL also initiated a Sledge Hockey inclusion program in partnership with Royal Enfield Social Mission to make winter sports more accessible and inclusive in Ladakh. Conducted alongside the Learn to Play camps and winter hockey activities, the initiative introduced adaptive ice hockey training for specially-abled participants from PAGIR and different parts of Ladakh.
The camp witnessed the participation and training of 17 specially challenged individuals, many of whom experienced structured ice-based sport for the first time. The program focused on mobility, confidence-building, teamwork, participation, and creating a safe and encouraging environment through adaptive hockey formats.
The initiative strongly reflected the belief that sport should create spaces where everyone feels included regardless of physical ability, background, or access. Beyond the game itself, the program helped build confidence, social interaction, and a sense of belonging among participants while encouraging greater awareness around inclusive winter sports in the Himalayan region.
Through this initiative, ASFL hopes to gradually strengthen adaptive sports pathways in Ladakh and continue building a sporting ecosystem where participation, dignity, and opportunity remain accessible to all.
